Here is my entry in a contest hoping to win one for The First Tee Learning Center! (www.thefirstteeNWAr.org)
The First Tee Learning Center opened in Lowell, Arkansas
earlier this year and serves the NWA Chapter of the First Tee. Besides offering classes to the First Tee
participants (ages 7 - 17), the facility (featuring a clubhouse, driving range, short game
center, practice putting green and a three hole golf course) is open to the
public 7 days a week.
The First Tee uses the game of golf to teach life skills through
their Nine Core Values: Honesty,
Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect, Confidence, Responsibility, Perseverance,
Courtesy and Judgment. Just last year
the program added Nine Healthy Habits: Energy, Play, Safety, Vision, Mind, Family,
Friends, School and Community. The life
skills these kids learn today will benefit them as they go to school and give
back to the community they live and grow in.
The First Tee Code of Conduct includes the following, “I will
be physically active, eat well, get enough sleep and take care of myself so I
can stay healthy.” I believe providing a
Fresh and Healthy Vending machine ( http://www.freshandhealthy.org/ )
in this facility would
allow the program to encourage healthy lifestyles for the children, one day
leading to a healthier world. (http://www.healthychild.org/)
Thank you for considering The First Tee Learning Center!
